Dragonfly is a magical totem, signifying our ability to transform ourselves as we travel our path of self knowing toward enlightenment.  Its iridescence and shifting colors lift us into dreamtime, where we understand that "reality" is the illusion. Our visions are channeled through our unconscious mind, ever connected to The Great Mystery that is Life. Dragonfly reminds us to celebrate Spirit in all living beings.

This Nature Goddess is surrounded by lotus flowers, eternal symbol of the simultaneity of cause and effect, calla lilies, the most feminine of flowers, and has vines and flowers growing in her hair. The golden flowers signify the divinity of her true self, as she emerges from the waters of her unconscious mind.

It is said that Dragonfly was once Dragon, covered with beautiful, shimmering scales and wielding great inner strength. It could change form at will, and light the darkness with the fire of its breath. Coyote tricked mighty Dragon into changing form and believing itself to be tiny Dragonfly.

Because of pride, Dragon got caught in its own illusion; just as we, because of ego, are forever accepting our facade as our true selves. Too often we believe our failures, our shortcomings, and our limitations are real. We have forgotten that we too can change form at will, wield great inner powers, and can light our darkness with our faith, hope, and determination.

When Dragonfly enters our lives, it is time to dig deeper, lift the illusion of suffering and believe in our limitless divinity.

Gratefully, I receive many emails from people who enjoy my art enough to let me know about it, wish to use an image or two for tubes, stationery, non-profit fun. I'm always willing to share and thankful for the input. But here's a letter that really touched me:

I received the sad news that one of my dearest friends had passed away.  I remembered that many years ago she sent me a dragonfly pin.  I got it and held it in my hand; I could feel her presence.  I looked up and on my nightstand was a copy of "Horizons" with one of your master pieces on the front cover.  I read your bio and immediately went to your web site.  When I came to "Dragonfly Medicine" I just sat gazing at it.  I was stunned at how everything I just told you had fallen into to place.... without question.... without hesitation.  I not only have a beautiful print in my home, but one that reminds me and connects me to a friend that has crossed over.
